Last Chance Ranch Animal Rescue (LCR), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates horses and domestic companion animals, is the recipient of national relief grant courtesy of  GreaterGood.org. The grant will help the organization continue to provide a safe and secure refuge for abused, unwanted or neglected animals, including animals rescued from a mass seizure in early 2016.

On January 26, 2016, LCR rescued nine horses, 20 sheep and three dogs that had been severely neglected by their caretaker in eastern Pennsylvania. All of the animals were malnourished and in poor health, and in fact two of the horses were so emaciated that they were unable to stand. Many of the animals are pregnant and in need of care, and all three dogs had frostbitten ears from being chained outside during the extreme cold.

“The cruel treatment these animals received at the hands of their caretaker is unfortunately something our organization bears witness to each and every day,” said Lori McCutcheon, who founded the nonprofit in 1999. “The support received from GreaterGood.org and other generous donors helps us to give these animals the life they deserve.”

The grant, totaling nearly $10,000, will ease the financial burden LCR faces due to the emergency and routine veterinary care required by the animals, as well as food and boarding until they are able to find them forever homes. It is part of a national grant program made possible by  GreaterGood.org

“With the help of visitors to  The Animal Rescue Site™, we are able to fund these grants to critically ill and neglected animals all over the world,” said Liz Baker, Executive Director of GreaterGood.org. “Last Chance Animal Ranch is a great example of compassionate and impactful candidates we look for to receive these grants.”
